Egyptian-Jordanian Delegation to Visit Iraq, Boosting Trilateral Cooperation
Source: 2/9/2020

Egypt's Minister of International Cooperation Rania El-Mashat announced that a delegation involving the Egyptian Ministry of International Cooperation and the Jordanian Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply is expected to visit Iraq to enhance trilateral cooperation in various fields, in pursuance of what has been agreed during a trilateral summit held in 2019.

El-Mashat's announcement came during a meeting held with Jordanian Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Tariq Hammouri, in the presence of Jordanian Ambassador to Egypt Ali Ayed, to discuss arrangements for the meetings of the preparatory ministerial committee of the Egyptian-Jordanian Supreme Committee, which is anticipated to be held during the first half of 2020.

The Egyptian-Jordanian Supreme Committee is a committee that supervises bilateral trade exchange between the two countries and the agreements that control it.

This is not the first time the two sides announce an anticipated visit to Iraq. In July 2019, the Egyptian-Jordanian Supreme Committee held its meetings on Cairo and chaired by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and concluded by announcing a visit to Iraq to be arranged to boost trilateral trade ties between the three countries.

The Egyptian-Jordanian Supreme Committee is the first joint Arab committee of its kind, started in the mid-1980s.

The trade balance between Egypt and Jordan is estimated at $700 million over 1,945 companies working in the domestic market.
