Source: 10/28/2019

Health and Population Minister Hala Zayed announced the launch a ministerial strategy to upgrade Egypt's vocational medical education system.

This came during a press conference at the ministry's headquarters in presence of Assistant Minister for Hospitals Affairs Ahmed Mohy Al-Qased and a host of senior officials from ministry-affiliated sectors, including Executive Director of the Universal Health Insurance System Ahmed al-Sobky.

The ministry's strategy is the first step toward a sustainable health reform, Zayed said during the conference.

It is part of raft of reforms the state has embarked on since July 2018 under the aegis of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Zayed added, noting that these reforms seek to improve the healthcare system by creating a positive working environment to ensure that patients enjoy the best service quality.

As many as 832 medical graduates in 24 different specialties will be enrolled in the Fellowship of the Egyptian Board (FEB) program, the minister added.

The specialties included general surgery, cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, plastic surgery, cardio-thoracic surgery, urological surgery, pediatrics, ophthalmology, obstetrics, Otolaryngology, clinical pathology and family medicine.

The program also covers several specialties of internal medicine, Zayed noted.
